How to force nvidia to use 1680x1050

I think the issue maybe comes from the graphic card itself. It works on xp but not with Vista or Seven... (sorry for my english, i speak french:))

Have you tried powerstrip? EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | PowerStrip

I was able to force my 4 year old laptop to output 1900x1080p even though it's max resolution was well below that. :) Might want to give it a try.

Whats the native resolution of your monitor?
Is it 1440x900 or 1680x1050?

Bcoz your mentioning 2 different ratios here.
My monitor is native 1680x1050 & I don't see 1440x900 listed at all.

Looks like an EDID problem to me...
Follow #2 and #3 from here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7947-force-dvi-hdmi-resolutions-refresh-rates-post124522.html#post124522
Upload the resulting file somewhere so I can take a look.

What you may need: Male DVI-I to Female VGA adaptor
What you may have to do:
Create an override EDID using #4-... from the above linked post.
Break the highlighted pin from the DVI-VGA adaptor like in this image.
Connect your monitor using your vga cable plugged into DVI-VGA adaptor that is plugged into DVI port of your graphics card. Update windows driver with your custom driver.
I can help you with the software part, the hardware part is up to you (getting the adaptor, breaking the pin).

I have a weird problem. My FX5200 card is capable of dual display. The problem is I can only get one to the proper resolution of 1680x1050. The other will not give me that option instead I have to use an odd setting like 1600x1200.

Anyone have any idea why its doing this.

Also I installed the latest driver and Nvidia control panel is not present on my system for some reason.

Solution for Windows 7 1680x1050 Monitor Wide Screen

Hi all,
i found a SOLUTION for all of you (i hope) that don't have a native support resolution for your wide screen 22" or similar under W7.
I have a Asus vw223d Lcd and when i tryied to have resolution 1680x1050 the panel didn't dispaly me the possibility, only 1600x1200 or similar but NO the 1680x1050.
So i tryied all the possible (show hidden res or from nvidia control panel, etc...) to put it in my screen resolution, an at the end i fount it in the right way!
I have a Sli system Nvidia gtx260 running under Windows 7 64bit Ultimate and the problem was that in game i coudn't recognize the resolution and the refresh rate correctly, so i tried to EDIT a generic driver for my monitor adding the resolution i needed. Here the text :

[Version]
Signature = "$CHICAGO$"
Class = Monitor
ClassGUID = {4d36e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Provider = %MFG%

[Manufacturer]
%MFG% = MonMfg, NT, NTAMD64

[MonMfg]
%MODEL% = Mon.Install,Monitor\ACI22B1

[MonMfg.NT]
%MODEL% = Mon.Install,Monitor\ACI22B1

[MonMfg.NTAMD64]
%MODEL% = Mon.Install,Monitor\ACI22B1

[Mon.Install]
DelReg = DEL_CURRENT_REG
AddReg = Mon.AddReg,RES,DPMS

[Mon.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1680,1050",Mode1,,"47-84,56-76,+,+"

[DEL_CURRENT_REG]
HKR,MODES
HKR,,MaxResolution
HKR,,DPMS

[RES]
HKR,,MaxResolution,,"1680,1050"

[DPMS]
HKR,,DPMS,,1

[Strings]
MFG = "ACI"
MODEL = "vw223d"

i SAVE it (name.INF) and i FORCE the installation driver from COMPUTER MANAGE (i don't know if the transaltion from italian is correct!)

After that i could see the resolution below 1680x1050 and works properly also in games like Wow or Resident Evil 5

.

Hope to be helpful

Samsung Monitor Native Resolution Solution!

System: HP dv7t quad laptop with nvidia 230m
OS: Windows 7
Monitor: Samsung T220HD Analog 1680x1050 native

I was having similar problem with my samsung trying to get the hp laptop with nvidia to accept 1680x1050 as a custom resolution in nvidia's control panel. No matter what I could not get higher then 1600x1050, test, unsupported, does not work at this time.

I went on a hunt and found drivers on samsung's website by searching in their support department. here @ Downloads SAMSUNG

Just enter your model number for example "T220" and download the drivers for your monitor. For the T220 the only driver they had was a windows 98 through vista version. Even though I am using windows 7 I figured I would try to install it anyway. And it worked fine, 1680x1050 perfectly. After the driver was installed I went to nvidia settings, created a 1680x1050 resoluion, test, works great resolution accepted, go to monitor resolution set to 1680x1050. walah!

Recap

For samsung native resolution monitor issues

1 go to samsungs site and download driver for your monitor.
2 install driver for your monitor
3 go to nvidia resolution settings
4 create monitor resolution
5 set monitor resolution
