Hello.
I have a NAS device which I am able to connect to only via the Windows File Explorer network (private). I would like to wipe the drive completely. Using the Command Prompt and net use, I am able to "be" in that NAS drive, but when I run diskpart I am returned to my computer's C: drive. I would like to reformat the NAS drive, wiping out any information which might be on it, but leaving it usable by someone else as new. Can anyone help me to:

1. Find out the format type of the NAS Drive.
2. Reformat that drive in the same format type.
3. Wipe the drive completely.

Many thanks.

There are a number of reasons of why that won't work, but mainly it comes down that low level disk utilities simply don't work over networks, they all operate on local disks. Even a mapped drive is completely different from a real disk on the local computer, from the OS point of view.
You need remote access to the system, most likely SSH to the Linux running the NAS, and assuming it isn't the main drive, format from there.
Or simply delete everything remotely.
