How to improve performance. . .

I want to improve my systems performance, but my computer cannot use aero so that strain is always on the CPU instead of the GPU, any way I can turn this around?

And my motherboard is at it's limit with 1GB, and don't bring up the "get a new computer" or "get a new motherboard" because I would already have a new computer/motherboard if i had the money.

I mean statup programs like OEM software, program updaters etc...

Go to Start>Run>msconfig>Startup tab

Disable unwanted programs if any is listed

1GB is the bare minimum amount of RAM for Windows 7, its normal that it will lag a lot

What antivirus are you using?

Your PC will boot OK with nothing at all checked in the startup tab of msconfig. All I have checked is antivirus and antimalware applications.

Go to task manager and examine your running processes, sorted by memory. What are the 3 or 4 things at the top of the list and how much memory are they using?

The RAM usage is perfectly normal, what about startup programs?

nmctxth.exe (Network Magic): 5,300K
Taskmgr.exe: 1,400K
AWC.exe (Advanced System Care): 1,200K
AvastUI.exe (Avast! Internet Security): 1,100K

Everything else is under 800K and goes down to 104K (Java).

EDIT: I just changed the settings of Network Magic and it will not be starting with Windows anymore.

I'd test fly it with just Avast and Malware Bytes enabled.

See if snappiness improves.

You have a Celeron 2.80 with 1 gig of RAM. It isn't going to rock the world regardless of what you do.

Also: look at task manager/processes; how many processes do you typically have running?

40? 90?

Be sure to check "show processes from all users" in that tab.

The only way you are going to really improve performance is by upgrading the hardware. Turning off some startup applications might save a few seconds on the bootup. But in the long run, your performance is limited by hardware not software. And certainly adding a graphics card that can handle Aero will help.

I have 55 Processes running.

You can monitor your processes to see which are using up your CPU the most. But most of them will be unavoidable.

I have 41 running right now, and very rarely have 50 running.

Advanced System Care is a tweaking program with a questionable Reg cleaner.

Win7 is already too lean to need any tweaking whatsoever beyond normal system settings - it will always come back to bite you.

See if you can reverse the tweaks done already, then uninstall it with Revo in Advanced mode: How To Use Revo Uninstaller To Completely Uninstall Programs

I think the Network Magic software is also not needed once you install your router. Do you have paid Malwarebytes standing shield or is that it's updater only (never allow any updaters in Startup list as they spy on you).

The only startup programs I run are AV and gadgets.
