HOW TO INSTALL DUAL BOOT 10/7 SYSTEM ON NVMe DRIVE WITH 10 FIRST?
hello everyone
as much as things have changed in the past 10 years my love of puters hasnt...
since my BIG system has been packed away im doing jobs for other people & here's my first big challenge.
they have an NVMe SSD drive with windows 10 version 2004 on it already... ive partitioned the drive to get it ready for a windows 7 install for a dual boot...the problem is after the 7 installer loads the temp files, the mouse & keyboard stop working at the SET UP NEXT window...ive contacted samsung to find out there was a driver problem with windows 7 & NVMe drives which ive already installed what i thought was the hot fix for ...but now it still happens so ive found a few more options but im not sure which option i should go with since it can very quickly turn into a bottomless pit LOL..
CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME THE FASTEST & EASIEST OPTION I HAVE?
im trying to avoid installing on other drives & cloning partitions...BLA BLA BLA since acronis can only clone entire drives ^ NOT separate partitions...if i can install onto a regular HD & then update that version of 7 to work on an SSD drive maybe i can find a program that can clone partitions?
id like to give an update for the situation so far as ive spent many hours on this & its still not solved but maybe im getting closer...
after i tried to follow these steps after painstakingly trying to update the bootable 7 files with the NVMe & USB drivers, when i rebooted into win 7 the colored lights swirled around while it was loading the OS but then it just again rebooted....i then rebooted back into win 10 to check things & saw the install filled up the drive with 17 GB of data in the typical directories but when i went into \Windows\System32\drivers i couldnt find the NMVe drivers i thought were supposed to be there...
another option i tried was running the SETUP exec from the usb flash drive i made...at frirst it froze during the install screen so i downloaded & installed these samsung drivers i got from their website by running it from inside win 10...even tho i figured it wouldnt help much, the next time i tried to run the setup exec from the flash drive, it actually allowed me to choose the correct partition & start the install...BUT after it had copied all the files it started to expand them & about 6% into the second stage i got another error that said windows couldnt install "a driver" never saying exactly which one, i was again set back....it seems to be very difficult to do this when it should have been so easy...
CAN ANYONE HELP?
