how to install mouse drivers from the exe downloaded from vendor?

Hi,
When mouse was just plugged, it automatically got drivers from microsoft compliant drivers. But of late, i am having problem on freezing of total computer , including mouse which does not allow any action but forced power off. The result is file system get corrupted and i have to resort to , repair the computer, and it it fails, boot in to safe mode and then do the chkdsk to somehow retrieve the system back on to normal stage.
If suppose, i wish to use the vendors drivers, then i have to disable the mice drivers in the device manager. Once, if i do that, i could not use the mouse in the session. Without mouse, i could not do anything.
Is there any alternative of how to install the drivers from vendor.
if i click the update drivers, it shows, that it has the correct drivers compliant with the mouse that i have, and in turn, it turns out to be microsoft mice drivers.
I have downloaded and kept the driver in a folder.

Hi, I understand manual download of driver part. But how to uninstall the windows mouse compatible driver at the first instance. pl

Go to Control panel - Programs & Features and see if there is an un-install available for the driver, if so use this, (reboot system even if not instructed to, to be sure ),

if No uninstall option Press Windows Key and R - in the run box type

mmc compmgmt.msc

Which will open the Device manager, scroll the list to the entry for Mouse and open the folder, find your mouse entry and right click and choose uninstall, select the remove all option if offered.

If you download a compressed file (.zip), what I would suggest is create a suitable folder where you can find it easily and Extract the contents (right click on Zip file and choose extract, follow prompts) then follow Roy's instructions above - pointing to the extracted files when prompted

If you receive an .EXE executable file double click the file and Carefully follow the prompts - I would always suggest that you choose any advanced install option and carefully read the instructions, Some driver installs require the hardware to be connected at a certain point of the install The advanced option will also help to avoid any "free" items that you may not need / want

Hi, Thanks for the post.
But when the computer reboots after uninstall, would it not automatically install the drivers for the mouse. Here I am having problem.
Should i unplug the mouse after uninstall from device manager. If it is so, then i will not find anything to move around . If i uninstall the mouse cursor would be there, but mouse is dead.
I think i am missing something somewhere.
Could anybody point out. If i uninstall and not plugging the mouse on reboot, the mouse would not be visible and no movements of selecting the exe to be installed thro manual process

You could try the install after removing the existing driver, without the re-boot - this is acceptable but it's not as clean as the reboot method

If you have an .EXE installer you can run this without un-installing the existing driver as most will automatically remove the existing driver.

You could also choose to update the existing driver and when prompted point the system to the extracted files folder.

You can also work windows using the keyboard if you do not have a mouse in the manual device manager method I suggested the windows key +R will work, and once in the device manager use the arrow keys, Tab, Enter and Escape Keys to navigate the device manager
