Solved How to install Office 365

I am going to subscribe to 365 not only to update word, excel, etc but also to get Outlook as I have almost given up on Windows Live Mail.

Do I have to uninstall Office 2007 befor installing 365 ?

Do I need to uninstall Live Mail before setting up Outlook ?

Thanks Brink, but what does this mean ?
"Previous versions of Office, such as Office 2010 and Office 2007, may work with Office 365 with reduced functionality."
I thought with a subscription I would get new 2016 versions of everything.
Surely I don't need to keep Office 2007 as well ?
Can't I just uninstall it ?
And my other (new) 8.1 laptop doesn't have any version of office installed.

That just means that if you have an older version of Office installed, it may fully work with the Office 365.

You can uninstall the old version, then install the new Office 365 with Office 2016.

Just add to Brinks advice & your question on uninstalling Office 2007. If you have no need for Office 2007, there is no point in having it installed. All your Office 2007 data files, such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets etc, should work in Office 365.

Uninstalling Office 2007 before installing Office 365, will avoid any clash with Outlook, as only one version of Outlook will work on a computer.

You should be able to leave Windows Live Mail installed & set it up in Outlook 365. I use Windows Live Mail with Outlook 2013 & it works perfectly. In fact it is easier to set up in Outlook than my POP3 main email account.

You should be able to leave Windows Live Mail installed & set it up in Outlook 365. I use Windows Live Mail with Outlook 2013 & it works perfectly. In fact it is easier to set up in Outlook than my POP3 main email account.

I intend to get rid of WLM once I've set up Outlook with my POP3 email accounts which are not Microsoft.
Will it be possible to export/import my contacts and all my currently saved emails from WLM into Outlook?

Yes you should be able to import your WLM contacts & saved WLM email messages into Outlook. But don't uninstall WLM before you do that.

This MS website may help you with this. It covers up to Outlook 2013, so scroll down to find it & follow those directions, as Outlook 2013 seems to cover the latest versions as well.

I'll throw in that I had both Office 2007 and 365 installed. When you install 365 it becomes the default for all office operations, but it does not actually impair 2007 at all. You can still open files from 2007 and operate them normally. I personally loathed 365 and uninstalled it, though I understand that if you need to collaborate on docs or otherwise operate in the cloud, it may be essential to you.

Any way, leaving 2007 installed on your system does not harm beyond occupying disk space, and leaves you a fall back position if 365 doesn't work out for you.

Thanks Roger - but too late !

I uninstalled all previous and then the 365 install went very smoothly.
Word & Excel don't look too different to me and seem to be working fine.
As said before, I'm keen to try Outlook instead of Live Mail.
