How to know the location of firmware driver?

How to know the location of firmware driver installed(dvd drive)? I am using windows 7 x64.

I have to update it to latest version...so I need to choose the firmware file.
But I don't know the location...

You should be able to get any firmware updates (if there are any) from the hardware manufacturer. What is the make and model number of your DVD drive? You can get this information from within the BIOS setup. Be aware that firmware flashing is a risky business, and could potentially turn your hardware into a brick. What is the specific reason for updating it?

CD/DVD drive is not responding, I mean it is not reading from CD/DVD.

Also when I tried to burn files to CD, it showed some errors "Error in writing file, either firmware for cd/dvd burning is outdated "

If you choose to register your hardware after installation, the manufacturer will notify you of any firmware updates.

That screenshot is just confirming the firmware version. There's no location as such. If a firmware update is needed, you need to get it from the optical drive manufacturer, and then install it.

As the screenshot shows, you have the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the DVD drive and as such, support must be provided by the computer manufacturer, not the DVD drive manufacturer.

If, as it seems, you have a faulty optical drive and your computer is under warranty, the manufacturer must either repair or replace.

Contact Dell (or the retailer if you bought elsewhere) and they will help you.

I doubt it's a firmware problem. It's more than likely a Windows 7 problem.
Your CD or DVD drive can't read or write media

Doing a quick search for TSSTcorp drives reveals that they are not the most reliable of drives. There are plenty of threads on these forums pertaining to TSST.

Of course, this is not the default driver I got when I purchased my laptop.I installed windows 7 recently also the drivers. So better use dell support cd to install it, right?

You keep asking for the "location" of the firmware so I'm thinking maybe your not aware of what it is. The firmware is the code that is stored on a micro chip in the device. Its like the BIOS code on your motherboard. To update it you have to flash new code into the micro chip. If done incorrectly the device could cease to function. Commonly refereed to as being bricked, as in "as useful as". The Firmware and driver for the device are two distinctly different things. You need both but most people only ever update the driver.
