For a while now, I've noticed that when I insert a CD or DVD into my optical drive, the icon associated with the disc no longer appears in place of the normal drive icon in My Computer on my Windows 7 installation. For example, I have the Batman Arkham City DVD, and I know that when I first got it and would insert it into my optical drive, a stylized icon of Batman art would appear in the place of that optical drive. That no longer happens. By the drive icon, it does say, "DVD RW Drive (E) Batman Arkham City Disc 1", so its not really a problem, but the standard drive icon remains, whereas I know it can show a specialized icon for the mounted disc.
I'm not sure if this feature has a name or if this is enabled or disabled by default. I'm just curious if there is a known way to enable this. At some point it obviously became disabled on my machine, but I'm not sure how.
Not a serious problem, obviously, but would be nice to know the answer.
Thanks!
