I have an email with a link to someplace with a PDF file (a safe email/link from a known sender). When a select the PDF link instead of Adobe opening the file Firefox gets in the middle wants to save it and wants me to tell it where - I see the firefox symbol on the top next "enter name of file to save". How do I fix this?

Firefox 92.0.1

So, you would like to open the PDF straight away without being asked to save it?

In most browsers these options are under the Applications options. In Firefox go to address bar and enter: about:preferences or go above to Tools | Options and scroll down a bit to where it says Applications.

Now you can change the default behavior of an application as it's handled by the browser. In this case Firefox.

So, if you're wanting to open a PDF straight away without being asked to save, then chose the Portable Document Format option and select "Use Windows default application." This should open Adobe PDF rather than being asked to save the file and what not.

Consequently, the option "Use other..." allows you to pick an application to handle the file. In this case a PDF.
