How to merge and expand hard drive

Hey there,

This is my first post. So I'm new here. I have a current problem and hope some of you fine people can help me out. I have looked already on the internet and here on the forum to find a solution before starting another topic. But I couldn't find it.

I will explain the situation as best. In my computer (old Medion) I have currently 3 fysical drivers. One hard drive has 500GB, one hard drive of 1 TB and one hard drive of 3 TB.

A friend of mine had installed the 3TB hard drive which I use for movies and series. Now I decided to move my movies (from the 3TB to the 1 TB). I made a new partition, moved all the data and removed the old partition.

Now I want to expand my Series hard drive. SO I have 746 GB that I want to expand that is not assigned but it will not let me do this. I used a partition wizard.
Problem is the computer thinks that there is another disk. See the screenshot. But it isn't true. How can I solve this problem?

Are you sure the now empty partition has not been left mounted by the partitioning software?
Have you tried to take the fake disk offline? (right click and choose offline)

Yes I have tried it. But it didn't work.

Are you trying to utilize the entire 3 TB drive (disc 0)??

I think 3 TB drives must be initialized as GPT rather than MBR if you want to utilize all of the space. Otherwise, you are limited to about 2 TB.

I think it's also possible that your motherboard may not fully support 3 TB drives.

If the drive is now MBR, you can convert it to GPT. But you MUST remove all partitions to do so. That means you have to temporarily move whatever is on the F partition to some other drive. After you have changed to GPT, you can move the files back.

@ignatzatsonic: I think his friend had installed the drive as GPT as he was already using the full 3TB on two partitions.

Used it for what? Which one? What exactly did you do and what were the results?
I'm afraid answers like "tried that and it didn't work" are not really helping in understanding what is happening to your computer........
