You can't be too careful! I disabled DEP (temporarily, was my intention!) according to this advice online:
How to disable Data Execution Prevention
1. Step Open the command line: “Start” -> enter “cmd.exe” into search field and hit enter.
2. Step Simply run the following command to disable it:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
3. Step You can enable it again with:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn
Disabling DEP as per above was straight forward, but having done my bit of troubleshooting, I wanted to re-enable it; but I can't. The 'Turn on DEP' boxes are greyed out and the above switch doesn't work, not even in Safe Mode.
Is it 'safe ' to leave things as they are? If not, how do I get DEP back? System Restore didn'r bring it back either!
Thanks,
Martin
