How to re install pre installed windows 7 on a Samsung Laptop

My Samsung laptop got a virus so I reinstalled windows 7 from a disk from another desktop computer and kept the old windows files in a separate folder called windows.old. The problem is that the windows 7 that I installed doesn't have all the Samsung stuff that I need like wifi etc

How can I re install the preloaded Samsung windows 7 without a disk?

On power-on keep tapping F8 and go to repair my computer. That will install from the recovery partition.

But in the future you should make frequent images to an external disk. Then you can recover in a few minutes.

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

If F8 will not work, try finding the Samsung Recovery app in Windows.old.

Thanks whs and theog, I managed to re-install windows 7 using the Samsung Recovery app in Windows.old and that all went fine. The problem now is when I turn on the computer it boots to Samsung Recovery app OR to a black screen saying boot failed. Eventually if you re-start it a few times it boots up windows normally. Any idea what's going on ??

I would run recovery at first boot (with the proper key) not from the windows.old folder.

ok thanks, ive reinstalled from recovery and everything is working fine however when I start the computer quite often it goes to black screen saying boot failed and windows doesn't boot up. Other times it boots to windows ok. Any other suggestions or could the hard drive be on its way out ??

That`s possible, and a good diagnosis, make sure the hard drive is firmly connected.

You can run diagnostics if Samsung has any on their website.

Install CrystalDiskInfo, it will give you an idea.

CrystalDiskInfo just ran it and good a GOOD reading, also made sure the cable to the HDD is secure and seems to be booting ok for now

Actually its happening again, when I start the computer it doesn't load windows and I get the following error message

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

Also there's a clicking noise from the computer when this happens

Is this the noise your HD is making:
Normally you will not hear the HD.

A little reminder.
Any time you take something from Windows Old you are taking a chance of moving the infection from Windows Old to the fresh install.

Yeah that's the clicking noise its making, some times it does it and the boot error comes up and some times it doesn't and windows loads ok. I guess its on its way out?

The Recovery media is still the inferior factory preinstalled Win7 with all of the bloatware and useless duplicate utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7. Much better to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164.

Thanks everyone for your help. So I've bought a new HDD and installed it. I then installed windows 7 from a CD that I had but when I enter the window 7 licence code it doesn't accept it. I was then going to install all the necessary Samsung drivers

So I'm thinking that I need to do the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 gregrocker mentioned above or is there another way? Unfortunately I wasn't able to make any recovery disks from the dead HDD

There is only 1 windows sticker on the bottom of the computer which says:

Windows Home 7 Home Prem OA (Samsung Electronics) and then it has a Product Key

The Product Key on COA sticker will always work if the characters are inputted correctly and you used the same version, which would be http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.isoWin7 Home Premium x64 SP1 English Official ISO download if you have 4gb or more RAM. Any less I'd choose 32 bit.

But it seems you haven't read http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 if you plan on importing a bunch of Samsung drivers before first doing all of your Important and Optional Windows Updates to see what drivers Win7 wants. Be sure to also enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) first.

I'm having real problems with booting from USB to install Win7 Home Premium x64. I followed all the instructions for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 and watched the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZJ5i3eYgKA and set USB as the boot source but it doesn't boot to windows install it just goes to the other windows 7. Any suggestions please??

You made sure the ISO for your licensed version in Step 1 fully downloaded and wrote it to stick with the tool in Step 2?

Will the stick boot in another PC?

When you look at the BIOS boot menu with the stick plugged in, is it available to choose? You may need to expand a listing like HD, Removable or USB to see it.

If it's not shown and won't boot similarly in another PC, then start over with another stick, format it again and write to stick with UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive

I used UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive and that worked fine and windows installation started in the laptop but then it came up necessary drivers are missing but I used the full file X17-58997
