Hi I have been having trouble gaining access to my user/(user) folder to get to my app data details, if i right click there is no option to run as administrator, i havn't changed the share options but i did follow these instructions

If you wanted to remove it, just right click on the folder > Properties > Security > Click "Edit" next to change permissions > Click "add" > if the folder is nothing really personal etc, type "everyone" Into the dialog box. Hit the enter key and "Apply", "Ok" etc.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/122666-permissions-allow-deny-users-groups.html

Hope that helps.

and it stated that i didn't have permissions. (as it ran through a list of items )

I then followed these instructions
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7539-local-users-groups-manager-open.html

and in both option 1 and 3 it stated that "this computer is running windows 7 home premium. this snapin may not be used with this version of windows. to manage user accounts for this computer, use the user accounts tool in the control panel."
in option 2 the local user and groups option is not there.
as far as i am aware and in the user account option i am the only user running on this computer (and as administrator)

i am therefore at a loss and any help would be gratefull

Hello worligig,

You might see if installing and using Take Ownership may allow you to be able to access it afterwards. :)

hi there sorry its taken me a while to get back to you.
I tried the take ownership option but this just put my computer in a continuous loop that didn't seem to end so i had to do a fresh install

after i had installed i found that the user (user) folder still had a padlock but it appears that its like this by default. and i also found out that what i had to do to find my app data folder was go into control panel, folder options, view. and changed the option to show all hidden files and folders; and low and behold it appeared ( I am such a noob )
thanks for the idea though it got me working on it
