I ran sfc /scannow and it said I had a bad perfproc.dll file and it could not be repaired. I downloaded a good copy of the perfproc .dll file from another win7 PC. When I tried to copy it back to my PC win 7 would not allow me to paste it in the system32 folder. The system said the file was ether open or in use by another program. My PC is a dual boot system with XP-Pro installed in another partition. I booted up XP and tried to copy the perfproc into the win 7 partition but got the same message. I then booted up using a BART Boot CD and tried to copy the perfproc file into the win 7 disc and got the same error message. Does anybody have any idea how I can replace the bad perfproc.dll file in the win 7 partition?

Hello Pjhormell,

You would need to take ownership of the original perfproc.dll file and "Allow" your user account "Full Control" of it, rename the original perfproc.dll file, then copy the replacement into the System32 folder.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
