How To Rid My PC of Vista After 7 Install?

Got a used HP a6433w cheap the other day. My initial plan was to completely wipe the HDD with D-BAN (because it came with Vista Home Premium x64 installed), and then do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x86. However, I could not get DBAN to work and simply custom installed W7 Ultimate over Vista. W7 is way better and faster than Vista, so I have no reason to ever go back. Here's the problem: The HDD is 500gb, and when I got it with Vista x64 there was 465gb of free space on the drive. After installing W7 Ultimate I only have 365gb of free space on the drive. What's going on? I know that 7 doesn't require 100 gigs of space for installation. Is Vista still on the disk somewhere? I didn't create any partitions or anything like that, and Disk Management only shows that W7 Ultimate is installed. What happened to 100gb of my hard drive, and can I get it back? Or....do I need to start over and format my C drive before installing W7?

You need to boot the installer any time you install, then select Custom install and use Drive Options to Delete all partitions, Create new as you wish, then Format before install to first partition.

Follow these steps which apply to get a perfect install: Reinstalling Windows 7

If you want to keep what you've got post back a screenshot of your full Disk Mgmt drive map using Snipping Tool in Start Menu. .
