I recently received a HP notebook 110 which has a WLAN setup ( I believe this is WiFi). At home I use an older computer, a HP a1000n Pavillion with a 56k internal modem and MSN dialup. Is it possible to set up a WiFi station so I can my notebook can access the Internet? I am posting this here because the notebook using Windows 7, though my Pavilion uses XP. If this is the wrong area, please let me know and I will be move to the correct area.

For anybody who wishes to reply, the answers must be complete and with a minimum of jargon so I will be able to understand them. Thanking anyone with helpful information in advance.

In order to do that, you would have to purchase a wireless router and hook it to your internet modem. Can`t you just hook the notebook to your modem with an ethernet cable ? ( no ethernet port ? )The same way you have your pc connected to it ? You won`t be able to use both at the same time but you will be able to get on the internet.

Call your Internet Service Provider, maybe they have a wireless modem.

I cannot hook up my Minin 110 directly to the modem, it is internal in the desktop computer. However both computers do have a LAN port. So you are suggesting I run a cable between the 2 computers. Would I have to set up anything in my Pavilion to run the LAN port?
