Hi all,
I have a 1TB hard disk with 2 Partitions - 200GB for windows and a 700GB for my data. Now the second partition is full and I want to add some more space into it. I have purchased a fresh 500 hard disk.
Is there is any way by which i can extend my partition to the new hard disk. Any way by which i can add this 500GB space into that old partition?
One suggestion I have is to transfer the data, (or a part of it), to the New drive and then resizing the existing system partition to give the extra space. This will result in two data partitions which may or may not suit your needs but you will have to remember where you put your data. - Incidentally Windows 10 does offer the ability to span drives to create data partitions as you requested, but the technology is new and also not a good enough reason on it's own to recommend upgrade.
Alternatively, and my recommendation is ... you could clone the current system drive onto the New drive and then expand the old data partition to take up the whole 1TB which would give 500GB for system and 1TB for data, this would also be slightly more efficient as you could read/and write to both drives simultaneously'
To perform these tasks safely I would suggest MiniTool Partition Wizard, which is free and much more reliable than Windows own tools.
