Dear all,

My computer is Dell Precision M6500. The graphic card is ATI FirePro M7740. The computer only has one VGA port.

I used a dock station which has 1 VGA port and two DVI ports. I connected two monitors to the VGA port and 1 of the DVI ports.

In the "Screen Resolution" dialog, I can see 3 monitors: The laptop monitor, 2 external monitors. However, one of the external monitors is grayed out. I can never to make all of the 3 active at the same time.

I am wondering if Windows 7 allows me to use 3 monitors at the same time? Did I miss something?

Thank you.

Hey I'm not sure about how to resolve this, but just FYI, as far as I know, Windows 7 will support as many monitors as your video card will allow. I had 3 connected to my HD 5870 the other day in ATI Eyefinity mode.

According to what I could find the ATI FirePro M7740 chipset is based on the 4850 series. Very good chip set but you can't use all three ports at once. In other words if your in CCC and disable the extended 2nd monitor then your third becomes available / extended.
