how to survive my drivers ?

my laptop was never formatted .. since i bought it
if i wished to format it ... how can i keep my drivers aside ?
because i don't want to face problems after formatting ...
why in the desktop systems a CD is provided that contains drivers . and in LAPTOPs there is not ?
