HI, I want to know if my non-system F: drive used for storing just data has this shadow copy storage area. And if yes how I can remove it.

A quick explanation of what it is would be nice as wel.

Why: I want to run TrueCrypt to encrypt the whole F: drive and its data. But the dang software keeps telling me it cannot shrink the filesystem on volume F:. Did some reading and found out Windows disk management cannot shirnk a partition if there are unmovable files. For example the shadow copy storage area used for whatever.. (I wonder if this also holds true for any existing $recycle.bin folder). So I want to know if my F: drive has this and if so could I move it or delete it. Thanks.

Shadowstorage is easily checked with this command:

vssadmin list shadowstorage

But I think you have a different problem. You cannot shrink your partition because the MFT is blocking it and Disk Management cannot move the MFT. Use Partition Wizard and you can shrink it because PW moves the MFT.
