A program that I am familiar with that affects performance consuming at least half of CPU does not appear in the programs that can be uninstalled. I know it is there because it does show in the downloads located in the start menu. This program creeps in when you download certain programs from the internet such as toolbars if you do not uncheck them. I am usually careful about any downloads but since I enrolled in an on-line college course for my bachelor's certain programs do need to be downloaded.
You guys helped me out last time with a problem of which came the perfect solution. I am hoping for the same this time. The program is Babylon and I do not know if you are familiar with this problem.
Any assistance offered would be gratefully appreciated!

Thank you,
Myrna Celaya

If you can remember whatever it was that you downloaded that included the troublesome program I would think your best bet is a system restore to a point before you installed it.

It's for very reasons such as this that it's always best to choose a Custom install wherever possible so that you have control over what add-ons are installed.

I've lost count of the number of times I've told programs I don't want the Ask toolbar or anything like it.

Hi 77sbetter, welcome to &F! :)

The reason you can't find it, is that it is used as an ad-on or extension to browsers, and is installed to the browsers Folder.
How many browsers do you have, and can you name them? As they have different procedures for removal.

In FF this: How do I fully remove Babylon leads to: How to remove extensions and themes

In IE7, 8: Internet Explorer add-ons: frequently asked questions

But, it can be much more involved: Manual Removal Guide for Babylon.Toolbar - Safer-Networking Forums
You could stay here at 7F, and have Jacee or Corrine take a look, but you would have to post a new thread here: System Security - Windows 7 Forums

Once removed I would do a malware scan with your present scanner or you can use one of these:
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Free
https://www.superantispyware.com/SUPERAntiSpyware Product Information

Some reading: https://krebsonsecurity.com/tag/babylon-toolbar/

If you really need a translation utility you could try this: Google Translate

I see seavixen has replied, I would try his suggestion for a System Restore, but still run the malware scans.
