How to update BIOS

I want to update my bios without any mistakes can cause me something , I would like to know how to update the Bios correctly , and thanks in advance .

My pc is : Hp Pavilion m9379.fr
Prod :KZ776AA-ABF
CIN :CZX83463KX

anas88, may I ask why you want to update your BIOS? HP's website will provide updates for your BIOS, when looking at the notes for BIOS version you should only update it if you are having problems.

Since a mishap while updating the BIOS will brick your computer, it is only wise to update the BIOS to solve a particular problem you are encountering that is specifically fixed by the uppdate. If you aren't having a problem there's no need to update the BIOS.

I have a problem that why the problem is the hour and date changed by itself like .
do i have to update the bios ??

Hi anas88,

Are you setting the time & date correctly for your time zone in the bios setup ?

If this is a desktop computer you may need to replace the CMOS battery that holds the memory for the Bios.

It looks like a large watch battery.

Do you mean do i have to change the bios CMOS ?? i have a desktop ... some times when i restart my computer the date it changed to earlier like 2000

If the date falls back to like 2000 that is usually an indication that the battery I show above is failing & needs to be replaced. They are fairly inexpensive, like $2 or $3 US dollars. The most common battery # is a CR-2303.

That battery also maintains the rest of the CMOS settings such as amount of RAM, HDDs, etc... If the battery was the issue, I would expect anas88 to be prompted at every boot to re-enter BIOS setup. Is that happening anas88?

Replacing the battery is fairly inexpensive and easy enough to do so it's worth a try but I'm doubtful it will fix the problem.

If you go to the HP website and look at the BIOS updates, in the notes of the updates, do any mention anything about fixing an issue with incorrect system date? If not, then updating the BIOS won't fix the issue either.

If you click on the time on the far right-hand side of the taskbar, a calendar should pop up with a link at the bottom "Change date and time settings...". Click on that link and on that dialog is a tab labeled "Internet Time". Please tell us if your computer is setup to synchronize with an internet time server.
