Actually, when you cannot boot your computer, you are to try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html at first. If it failed, it is to try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105541-startup-repair-run-3-separate-times.html . Both of the tutorials attempt to recover the boot sector of your computer.

If the first two failed, better you try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139810-sfc-scannow-run-command-prompt-boot.html then. It attempts to recover any system violations .

As you will no doubt learn after having been around for a while the more information you give us the faster we can help you solve your problem.

You are after all here for help, correct?

I do know how frustrating these problems can be but you must realize that we are all volunteers and do this for free, to help.

A sense of humor is essential as not having one will chase potential helpers away.

Moving on

We need the specific version of windows (ultimate, pro, home, starter, etc)

Was it installed as an upgrade or clean?

it's windows 7 pro and it was already installed when i got it, but i think it was an upgrade from xp pro, because the machine has a serial number for xp. this raises a second question: what difference does the version of win7 have to do with the executable file path of system restore?

I have same issue

Im also having same issue:cry:. But I was not aware of the fact that there were so many different versions of windows 7. I dont know which mine is, because I can't get my laptop up and running. Is that why Im getting the same message? (I am using a repair disc that was created from another windows 7 computer) maybe theyre not the same version of win 7? I will also let u know, that start up repair has not fixed it. It just says cannot repair do u want to shut down or whatever, then it restarts and tries to run it again. Did I understand correctly that u need to run it three times? none of the other recovery options have worked. The command prompt option is the only 1 that i made ANY progress with.
