HP dv4-1428 no audio

Hi everyone!

I just purchased an hp laptop from Bestbuy: DV4-1428 found here:

It came with Vista, and I couldn't find the drivers for it to downgrade it to XP, so I decided to go with Win 7. I already have Win 7 on my PC and everything works great, but on my laptop, it won't recognize the audio drivers. Windows 7 says that there are no speakers connected.

I went to the hp website but the only drivers I could find that might be useful was the BIOS upgrade for Vista x64, so I downloaded it and installed it onto the system. Nothing happened.

I've downloaded the 64 bit version of Win 7 on this laptop.

Any help/suggestions? I really don't want to go back to Vista, and XP looks like it won't even work because no drivers for xp exist for this laptop.

Hi there.

I couldn't figure out the problem and since school was starting soon I had to revert back to Vista. I'll keep this thread in mind, and when school is done and I have a week's break in december, I'll try to reformat it then and see if this solution works.
