Well I see drivers for your printer for both 32bit and 64bit from the link I had in my first post.
Have you tried those drivers?

I followed the link and as stated previously it does not supply a driver, because the 1010, 102 1015 printers are not supported.

This series of LJ printers has always been a bit tricky, as the printer doesn't have an onboard firmware, instead depending on the driver to load the firmware to printer ram at startup. When I run the printer driver from HP, it is tricky, and it *says* it didn't install, but apparently it does, as my printer magically started working. You may need to "play with it" a bit. When 7 first came out, I had to install the vista driver, get an error, and before closing the driver installer which would roll everything back, COPY the actual driver files from the temp directory, and then select "have disk" from the device manager and point it at the copied files, thus bypassing HP's braindead error message that rolls back the install.

So... let us know how it goes, whichever method works for you on the 1012.

i have 7 ent.
and hp lj 1012.

i used the hp-supplied vista driver.
it labels the printer "hp laserjet 1012 hb"

the printing is dead slow, about 15 to 20 seconds to start each job.

(the 1012 prints instantaneously in xp pro, same machine from which i dual-boot 7)

anyone have a way to make the printing work faster?
is it some security inhibitor? (that's what i think.)

When I initially tried to install my ancient LaserJet 4L it said it didn't have the drivers but there is a link during printer install to download more drivers and once I did the LaserJet 4L was in the list and installed AOK.

Have you been down that route?

Hey, old buddy!

Have you tried the Windows 7 driver from the link IggyAZ & pancake89 posted? (Seems to me I suggested checking the HP site yesterday. :) )

I suspect that the hb indicator is because you are using the Windows Vista host based driver.

hi, corrine,

i think hb is finnish for bs. (per babblefish. i believe everything on the internet.)

actually, yes to all 3. incl. IggyAZ & pancake89... sowwy.
it is a vista driver. there is no 7 driver at the hp site. cf -
HP Color LaserJet CP6015 Printer series- HP LaserJet, Color LaserJet and LaserJet AIO/MFP Products - Product Support for Microsoft Windows 7 - c01856597 - HP Business Support Center

scroll down the matrix until you get to the 1012, it says "vista driver in 7"

i was hoping for a way to make it speedy, perhaps bypassing some security check or other...
