HP Pavilion laptop cant open up in windows

Hi. My wife dropped her HP Pavilion g4 notebook and the screen got cracked. When I boot it, it comes up with press ESC for start up menu. Like F1, F2, F9, F10 F11 and ENTER. I can go through them but cant get Windows 7 OS.I inserted the WinRE CD but start up repair didnt fix it. I then restore it to factory settings. Now it cant find any system recovery image. Have I really damaged her laptop completely? Do I need the Windows Installation disk? I used the command prompt with the Bootrec options for MBR,BCD,ScanOS, and FixBoot but got message that they are not recognized as internal or external command operable program or batch file. I dont know what to do. Please help with suggestions on what to do. Greatly appreciated. Thanks much Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Hi samnexus, welcome to the Forum.

When a laptop gets dropped it usually damages the hard drive beyond repair. Also depending on how hard it hit the floor a lot of other damage may have been done as you have experienced with the screen.

It would be best to take it to a reliable computer shop & get a quote on the possible cost of repair. Depending on that quote you can decide whether it might be better to replace it.
