HP Recovery CD fails! (help!)

i try f11 but the screen doesn't turn on. i think something's blocking the screen turning on.

last time it was the battery or something as when i took it out, the screen turned on and the hp logo popped up where i was given the opportunity to hit F11 but i didnt.

i should try your hp contact suggestion lol. im not good at law but we'll see

sure id be interested in hiren's boot cd as long as i can FIX this problem and get some sort of complete OS running in the end :(

Thanks so much for your help guys!

If you can plug an external monitor into VGA port, then you'll know if you have a signal from the mobo. HD or CPU activity LED is also a good sign.

If you have a signal, then it could be a loose wire on the harness from screen to mobo, or the screen needs replacing. A reliable shop can tell you for sure.

i have tried that. Initially when unplugged the monitor states "No signal"
when i plug it in while it's off, the green light just blinks normally while the ext monitor is black (this is normal)

then when i turn on the computer, the screen just stays like that with the ext monitor's green led blinking as if it were off, which means there is no signal from the mobo.

but coincidentally (i already said this), it worked the other day (no signal and all of a sudden the screen went on and OS loaded)
