I Accidentaly disabled my account

I was trying to apply a theme but for some reason windows wouldn't let me rename my original explorer.exe file so i can back it up. But i couldn't. So i heard that windows has a hidden admin account. So opened up Command prompt with admin rights and typed in the command "net user administrator /active:yes" after i did it was a success so i switched users but no new account was to be seen just the usual 3 accounts. SO i went back on my account and opened command prompt again and entered the following command "net user administrator /active:no". windows finished installing updates and it asked me to restart, so i did and to my surprise my account was no longer on the log in screen (which means that my account that i have been using was the suppose hidden account) just 2 the other 2. These other accounts are for my family and they both are standard accounts (so they dont have admin rights) and now i have no way of re enabling my account. I hope someone can help.

When there are no other administrative accounts on the system the built-in Administrator account may become enabled by entering Safe Mode to see if Administrator appears on the Welcome Screen. If it does, log in and create an administrative account for elevation and emergency purposes.

If Administrator doesn't appear on the Welcome Screen, enable it by booting into Windows 7 installation DVD, choose Repair your computer on second screen, select Command Prompt, type:

net user administrator /active:yes [enter]

Remove the DVD, reboot the computer, and log into the built-in Administrator account.

If you don't have a Windows 7 installation DVD try the System Recovery Options accessed by tapping the F8 key at boot.

I tried the dvd method, entered the command prompt it said successful so i restarted but my account was still not there.

Tried the repair computer option when pressing f8 and the system recovery options appeared but when it ask me to choose an account my account wasn't there just the 2 standard user accounts. I can see my account in local user manager, when i click on properties the disabled box is shaded but since i am on the standard user account i can't enable it with that.

I've tried the dvd, sustem recovery, and local user manager and nothing. I really dont wanna have to reinstall windows, i'm really hoping i dont have to do it but it seems like the only option.

Do you have the hidden Admin account now?

If so, you can create a new Admin-level account in Control Panel>User Accounts, then disable the hidden account.

If not, try again.

Someone else will hopefully have another idea to avoid reinstall, perhaps a Repair Install

No my usual admin account was the hidden admin account. Like i've stated above i've tried everything you stated plus the local user manager and nothing. I've tried the windows 7 dvd method and re entered the command like 5 times but my admin account is till not enabled.

You said you were applying a theme, but if any more than that be aware that Win7 does not tolerate much compound tweaking as it is already as lean as can be.

Problems like hidden Admin disappearing show up when there are Reg Cleaners, compound tweaking or other heavy modding.

If you like to get tweaky, then clean reinstall and after its setup and running best save a Win7 backup image you can fall back upon: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

I'd try SFC -SCANNOW Command.

If necessary Run SFC -SCANNOW in Command Prompt at Boot - Windows 7 Forums

As a last resort before Reinstalling Windows 7 try a Repair Install

You keep saying you WERE using the built in hidden Administrators account.

Simple fact is you were not. By default with every install of Win 7 the built in Admin account is set to Disabled. And the first account you create, a NAMED account, is set as an administrator account.

When you booted the PC into safe mode Command Prompt only did you run that Net User administrator /Active:yes and are you sure you typed it in correctly?
Miss typing one character will cause the option not to work.
