Solved I am unable to start Windows-7 Backup - It just does nothing?

I would like to run a Backup.
I go to the Control Panel and then Backup your Computer.
Nothing happens!
Any help will be appreciated.

Maybe "Backup your Computer" is not a MS Windows CP? When I goto All Control Panel Items there is a Backup and Restore, and when I select that I see "Back up or restore your files" within which is a Set up backup button with a shield on it.

Hmm wait if I select "View by: Category" for the Control Panel area, I see what you see. Try to change Category view to Large Icon view, then Backup and Restore icon?

You could do

a) system restore to a point before you had the problem

OR

b) system file check (sfc)

OR

c) repair install

Did a) but no success or change of behavior.

Will do b) and c) and report back.

Being afraid, I am considering trying an In Place Upgrade to Windows-8.

What are you thoughts on this?

I am happy with Seven but if I could do Backup's and Restores with Eight, maybe!

Waiting for a MSE Scan to end and then I will try a repair>

Scan ended, nothing found.

Tried to do a repair, started it and then thinks went South.
The repair started to ask unusual question, ones I have never seen on other Windows Installe.
I am attaching the results of the repair attempt.
I think I am in deep trouble.
Please note there is no F: Drive

I tried all the options, nothing worked.

I have noticed that NON of the USB Ports are being recognized.
The reports I attached indicate Windows is looking for an F: Drive.
There is no F: Drive but there may have been a USB Drive running off of the F: Drive months ago.

No USB Ports, No way to satisfy the Repair, YIKES this looks very bad.

I will wait for your response until Noon my time tomorrow, then I will attempt the Windows 8 In Place Upgrade.

Have you checked the disk? If there is a problem with the disk, a new one is needed.

Either way,

I would copy any important data somewhere safe - to an external disk, or even a usb disk if necessary. Also back up your activation somewhere safe. SEE HERE


Then go for a clean reinstall. I have done it countless times. Takes a little time to get the updates and restore activation, copy data back, etc.

You will probably be surprised at how much snappier a clean reinstall is.
