I can hear sound but mic isn't working

I recently just bought a dx11 turtle beach ear force headset to replace my old one. I got it in the mail today and I can hear sound perfectly and when I talk into my mic I can hear myself. However windows 7 isn't picking up me talking, no one in skype, vent, games can gear me at all. It uses USB to power itself and then audio/microphone jacks, I thought that maybe since I was using the jacks from my motherboard it wasn't working. I went and bought a RocketFish 5.1/7.1 sound card and plugged my mic in and it still doesn't work.

I would also like to note that the mic is working on my xbox 360 and on my netbook, it only doesn't work on my main computer. I also just freshly installed windows 7 64bit again and it still is not working.
