i can not partiton my new windows 7 netbook

i have tried everything but i get the error after completing the operation that the disk will convert from basic disk to dynamic disk.......what do i do can any please give me a detailed answer and step by step approach...........i am new to this forum and to the world of computer as well.waiting for reply...

First, what are you exactly trying to do? Are you trying to shrink your current partition, so you can make a second, separate data partition?

Do not convert to Dynamic!

Please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map and listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu.

If you're planning to install another OS then we can help you create a 4th Primary partition by converting a data partition (only) to Logical so you can create a new Primary partiiton for the OS. Read over option four here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93322-partition-wizard-use-bootable-cd.html

Otherwise you can convert a data partiiton (not OS, Boot or Recovery) to Logical which will then allow you to add as many data sub-partitions as there are remaining letters.

But there are traps to be avoided by posting back the screenshot first for careful scrutiny.
