I can't download an audio file

Hi!
This is the first time I've used a forum.
I subscribed yesterday to the Economist magazine mainly because I discovered they produce an audio version of each magazine in it's entirety.
This would be really handy because of my personal situation.
I tried downloading the most recent version and everything seemed to be working ok (ie the download progress bar showed something taking about four minutes to download) but what opened up was the Windows Picture Manager and nothing else happened.
I tried downloading previous episodes, but the same thing happened!
I should concede that I'm not very good with computers.
If anyone can recognise a simple fix for this, I'd be very grateful!

The file is an MP3 (same as Music). Do you have it in your Download folder? From what I read from the magazine site you need a subscription for the Digital editions.
What MP3 player program are you using? ( It will play in Windows Media Player)

Thanks for getting back so quick!
Yes, I paid for the subscription and I figure they recognise this or they wouldn't let me download.
I have Windows Media Player.
All episodes I downloaded are in my download box as zip files.
I spoke to a friend by phone and he suggested I needed to get a winzip subscription and that might help.
I did so, but the downloads still opened in WPM and froze there!

What are the extensions of the files after you unzip them (the portion after the dot in filename)? You unzipped them right?

Then open Media Player, left click (and hold) the audio file - drag and drop on Media Player.

Lets see if you can get them to work like this.
