I don't even know how to describe this problem!

Hi guys,

As the thread title says, I dont know how to describe this problem but I'll give it a shot, don't even know if I'm in the right place!

My laptop is having this problem that whenever I try to open/close a program, the program simply just highlights (recognising I have attempted to open or close it) but does nothing after that. If the program I am trying to open is on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, I can do nothing on the taskbar then as the blue loading circle is there making it unable for me to click on anything. I can still access the desktop and attempt to open programs, but the same thing will happen making the whole thing unable to work on. I can't get into anything and I am stuck on my desktop.

I have a Compaq laptop and I know the Operating System is the issue as I was able to access some sort of HP Operating System and the laptop worked perfectly fine on that, although I have no idea how or why that decided to open on startup instead of Windows.

I am aware my report of the issue is confusing and poor, so if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

Please boot your computer into Safe Mode.​

Run sfc /scannow.​

Reboot in to windows normally.​
