Nope. In order for a set top box to receive the commands form Media Center to change the channel you MUST have a ir repeater and a remote.

Only other alternative that I know of would be to get a PCI tuner card and have a direct cable connection to the PC. Then everything can be controlled from the mouse or keyboard.

Thanks for your advice ! Could you provide me with more info. on this direct cable connection ?
The set-up I have is a pci TV tuner (TV card) I'm using the s-video output from my sky+box and connecting it directly to the composite input on the TV card I don't need a remote to change channel as I use the sky box and it's remote control, the picture works and the sound but after tuning media centre the set-up then moves on and asked me for the remote which is a pain as I don't really need it.
So yes if you can provide more info. that would be helpful.

This is a long shot I know but I have a usb remote control is there any program or remote emu. out there to fool media centre as there is a remote present ?

Many Thanks

I'm a little lost.

Your only using your tuner as a video input for the PC, and letting your sky-box be the tuner. Right?
If that's right, I'm not understanding why your even trying to setup MC's pre-configured tuner, because it doesn't actuality have a feed available from the sounds of it. Or have I totally miss understood...?

As for the direct connection. If you have digital cable, it would require a digital tuner card to process it. But if you only have analog cable you can simply screw your cable into the jack on the tuner card and then MC can see and use the feed available, without the use of a set top box.
