Solved I need a CPU temp monitor

I have a AMD Phenom II X6 1055T and all the temp monitors I've tried show core temp at 0C. I tried Core Temp, HW monitor and a gadget which needs Core temp running. All show 0C for all 6 cores. It is on an ASUS M4A88T-M board.
Any help appreciated.

Further I downloaded GPUz and "Stops working, Windows will try to find a solution" always appears. The GPU is onboard, HD4000.

Wouldn't happen to have "advanced clock calibration" enabled in the bios would you? If so then that is why nothing will report the CPU temps.

Lately I found the PC Wizard 2010 program from the CPUID site to be accurate with a Phenom ii X4 965 model when comparing temps with the hardware monitor in the bios. With the other programs as well as PC Wizard you would go into the configuration wizard and set the number of cores to 6.

The 0C temps suggest the programs are not properly configured or simply saw bad installs if not needing a newer version. This would be a software not hardware problem you are running into.

The 2012 version of PC Wizard came out in February but now sees the "Processor Temperature" item as "TMPIN0". The different versions can be found at CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Did you try the Ai Suite or PC probeII from the ASUS site?
Select OS and look under Utilities

Also look in the Bios and see if it shows the temps.

The hardware monitor is always the first place to look. The Asus temp probes are a good alternative and very popular. The GPU-Z app is mostly for Video card not cpu temps as one other thing to mention here.

I definitely prefer the PC Wizard program over HW Monitor as well as Core Temp having tried each program out from that site while the problem for seeing 0 temps is as I was saying either each seeing a bad install or perhaps you have a Windows problem you were unaware of since this is pointing at software.

If you still end up seeing 0C for core or processor temps with either the Asus Temp Probe or PC Wizard that would rule out a bad install of each program pointing back at a Windows problem. The fact that GPI-Z stops working would seem to suggest this is OS related as well as the 0C.

I tried ASUS Probe and it isn't complete, only shows Average temp, or at least only one temp.

Thanks everyone! It was Stormy's suggestion that took care of it. I disabled Advanced Clock Calibration and voila! Core Temp give me individual core temps in the system tray.

Thought that would be it. If it helps any it still happens even on the 970/990 chipsets even though Asus has now named it for what it really is,



and still causes the same thing to happen,



The only benefit that anyone found to ACC/core unlocker is on tri-core or dual cores with locked cores (the Phenom II x4 960T is another that if lucky can be unlocked to a full Thuban x6), and all had the same happen with the temps being "broken" when enabled.

The Phenom II Black Edition models were designed for ocing. The 940 was reportedly oced out to 6.5ghz during pc show back in 2009.

One of the first reviews on the 965 saw the 6.3ghz stable according to the author when tested.

Apparently the program you would need to use has to accomidate for chipset design flaws. Or you could install your own cpu temp sensor like some have.
