I recently bought a Dell Latitude E6400 to restore and upgrade for personal use.
It's in fully working condition now, and I bought a 4G LTE PCI-E WWAN card for it, brand new off eBay. Specifically this WWAN card was a "Dell Wireless 5802" WWAN card. I've installed it and it shows up in Device Manager, without drivers. I located them earlier from the information in the manual and downloaded them, but when trying to install them, I get this error:

"This is not a DELL Compatible system."

Upon further investigation, there is a .zip archive inside "FRN6D_A00_4.05.002.001.20_Setup_ZPE.exe" contains the driver Setup and a .zip archive named SystemId which is encrypted, likely only decrypted and hidden away somewhere temporarily, in a folder somewhere or perhaps even in memory, as I cannot find its contents. Seemingly to install the drivers, you will need a compatible Dell laptop (the ones in which this card would ship with), shown below:
Dell Vostro 3x60
Dell Latitude E6x30
Dell Inspiron 5x23
The drivers are for Windows 7 x64 as well x86, so my operating system is compatible...
If someone has one of these Dell's, or has the tools to find out where and if Setup extracts the SystemId zip file even if you do not possess one of those such Dell's. The driver does not appear to be available through a third-party or even another OEM, either.

I am always open to your suggestions...

Here is where you can download this driver: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=frn6d

If you're wondering, the laptop's specs are:
Dell Latitude E6400
Windows Embedded POSReady 7 x64 (for home workstation use, embedded is slightly more lightweight)
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.67 GHZ
4 GB DDR2 RAM
Intel GMA 4500MHD Graphics
Dell Wireless 5802 PCI-E WWAN Card

Hi

from what i can find that PC was shipped with an onboard Wifi card, is it still installed
(possibly an Intel 5100/5300.. latest driver for that is V 14 3 2 1...use it on my old Acer)

Older PC's used to come with a White list of acceptable drivers which is possibly why your getting that message
another reason could be that as its an embedded system there might be some BIOS restrictions, generally POS is Ethernet.

As a rule OEM's mod drivers for all components, this one appears to be rather specific in that it also requires the following pre-setup
Dell Vostro 3360 Laptop Modem Communications Driver download

No, it's not. Your OS is an embedded OS and is no where near Windows 7 64.

This is the drivers page. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/latitude-e6400/drivers

In it you'll notice the following: DELL_WIRELESS-5620-EVDO-HSPA

That's the card you need, BUT! You'll note it's only for Verizon.

If you need a specific cell capable card then have a look at your cell carrier's website or walk into your cellphone store and ask. Now-a-days they're USB.

If your data plan allows it (ask), you can always tether your phone to your laptop via WiFi from the phone to the laptop. The phone acts like a hotspot you connect to. Just make sure you use a good password. And never use the shortcut route of WPS!

If you want a small footprint Windows OS then try Windows 7 Starter and further strip it down (be careful) with NTLite.

Just to let everyone know who may not know. POS is an acronym for Point Of Service. Like a cash register.

It most certainly is much like Windows 7 x64, you may be thinking of Windows CE. POSReady 7 is for cash registers, but I've removed the POS stuff and the drivers and programs are as compatible as they would be with Windows 7 Ultimate.

This 4G one doesn't seem to have much use without working drivers, so I'm going to put it in storage and buy the E6400 compatible one instead.

Not to Dell's self-extractor it doesn't... It's expecting a certain OS.
