Hello. I have a question to ask you.

I am having issues with my Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. What is happening is this:

Yesterday, I accidently deleted in my Windows 7 taskbar the IE icon to the right of the Start button icon. Okay, then I replaced it from the start menu and positioned it as the first icon right of the Start button icon in the taskbar. Okay, I thought all was fixed. However, this is what is now happening. Say, I click on a link in my e-mail from within my e-mail client (Windows Live Mail 2012) ; then if I already have at least a window open of IE (say in the background), then another tab will open for that e-mail weblink next to IE's existing tab -- that is normal. However, if I do NOT HAVE ANY tabs open AT ALL for IE to begin with, and I click on the same link in my e-mail from within my e-mail client, I get a whole new IE window to open and it shows the IE icon in my Windows 7 taskbar at the far right (the next available open space for an icon of a program to show in the taskbar).

I do not want this to happen and it did not happen before I accidently deleted the IE icon to the right of the Start button icon yesterday. I want any and all windows that open for IE to be all associated with that one IE icon to the right of the Start button like before. What it should be doing normally is stacking IE icons (up to three) all under the first icon right of the Start button.

Please tell me what you think or know is going on here and what I need to do in order to fix this issue.

Please reply.

Thank you!

Sounds to me like you used a different Internet explorer listing,
64 bit would have two lists,
I'm pretty sure live mail would use the 32 bit version not the 64 bit version.
If you deleted something it would be in your recycle bin= have you looked and restored it ?

@ ThrashZone:

Hello. Nice to meet you.

Thanks for your input. I see you are correct. The IE icon I replaced in my taskbar is the 64-bit one when I right-click on it, it states it is a 64-bit version of IE. And the one that opens to the far right near my Windows 7 notification area I figure is a 32-bit version becuase it does not state or express it as a 32-bit meaning it must be a 32-bit.

No. I checked my recycle bin and it is not there. Actually, I have checked the top set of icons in my Start menu's All Programs, and all I see is "Windows Explorer (64-bit)" listed. I do not see a 32-bit version that I assume would just say, "Windows Explorer". The only other IE icon I see in the Start menu is the one called "Internet Explorer (No add-ons)" found in: Accessories -> System Tools. I must of lost it somehow -- the 32-bit version of IE.

Q1: How do I get back into my taskbar the IE 32-bit version I seem to have lost once again, if I wanted to? Please explain.

Q2: Now, let me ask you. If I wanted to use the 64-bit version of IE, how could I get my Windows Live Mail 2012 to open weblinks in the 64-bit version of IE? Is there a way or means in the settings of WLM 2012? Please explain.

Q3: Yes, I would rather use the 64-bit version over the 32-bit version of IE. Any issues of using by default the 64-bit version of IE instead? Please explain.

Please reply to my 3 questions. This will solve my issues.

Thank you!

Hi nice to meet you too,
Not a problem see what this does,
Add the Run box to the Start menu list,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/559-start-menu-add-run-button.html

Open the Run command and Paste this into it and Okay,
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
Once ie opens just right click it on your taskbar and click pin this program...

If you want the listing back in your programs list again,
Drag the existing taskbar pinned program to the Start button wait for a second for the start button list to show,
Then drag it up to the All Programs listing/ wait a second for the list to show,
Then drag it up and just above the 64 bit listing,
When you see a black horizontal line above the 64 bit listing release the left click drag.
Be careful and wait for the black line to appear before you drop ;)

Hi again I just realized I had not addresses your other two inquiries only the first/ My Bad,

Your second question I'm not sure if there is a easy way to do that as you have seen livemail defaults to the 32 bit version any alteration are beyond my knowledge,

The last question you can see if the start menu search shows both versions and open the 64 bit listing exclusively and pin it the same way,
