Hello!

I'm thinking of going to 32bit since my music softwares don't work so good (and most of them don't even support 64bit) in a 64bit enviroment.

is there an easy way when i already have alot installed (32bit applications mostly) to "downgrade" to 32bit?

thank you

Are you sure they will work on Win 7 32 bit? Have you tried running them in XP Compatibility mode?

I accidently installed 32bit when i first got this computer... (i thought 86x was 64 bit, because it's higher then 64x haha lol) and managed to install some of the software before i realized it was 32bit. and most stuff worked alot better in 32bit!

Try running a virtual machine with a 64-bit OS. If you have another Windows license, you should use that. Otherwise, you can use a Linux distro (I suggest Ubuntu) and install Wine. If you need free virtualization, use Oracle VirtualBox.

I had the same problem with flash players, Adobe, certain music programs. I found that if you install Firefox, you can run them on that browser. Problem solved.

I dunno, Alder. FF x64 still won't run Silverlight or the Adobe PDF plug-in, among others. Any plugin for FF x64, or any x64 browser for that matter, has to be compiled for an x64 system. There is Flash ActiveX control available for IE9 64 bit, as well.

FF x64 certainly won't help running the music programs the OP is desiring to run.

BTW, Alder, welcome to the Seven Forums! :)

I hear good things about Reaper instead of ProTools, but I don't know how well it does on 64-bit either. But Reaper is supposed to be a LOT better than in earlier versions.

The 30 day evaluation copy is free:

You could try the virtual machine thing, but in my limited experience it was a letdown regarding response time and graphics.

The reason I started using FF was because of Silverlight (Netflix).. It wouldn't run on IE64. It works great on FF and so does Adobe Flash. It worked for me.

We're getting a bit off-topic here but, Alder, are trying to say Silverlight runs in FF x64? It doesn't. You must be running a 32 bit version of FF if Silverlight is working in the FF browser. Silverlight also works admirably in IE9 32 bit.

Yes, that is what I said. I have IE9 64 bit. Silverlight and Adobe both had problems with that. So I run them on FF. It solved my problem and I noticed that many other people are having the same problem. So I wanted to offer a solution that I found.

They'll work just as well on IE9 32 bit, Alder. If you've got IE9 64 bit, you also have IE9 32 bit. FF, in and of itself, has nothing to do with it. (I'm a diehard FF fan, BTW, look at my sig) :)

Now ... back to the topic ...

I don't know how to switch to IE93 2 from IE9 64 without purchasing a new program for $100. I tried and looked in many forums for an answer. I was just offering a solution that I found and it was on topic. That is how I found this thread.

IE9 32 bit is the default, IE9 64 bit is not. You should have them both installed:

ScreenShot00335.jpg

Unfortunately, none of this is helping the OP with his issue so I'll leave you to figure out the differences between IE9 32 bit and IE9 64 bit and the default program that runs when you click on the standard IE9 icon - hint: it's not the 64 bit version. This has already been discussed here in more than a few threads.

Stick around, Alder, nice to have you here. :)

I have tried reaper, and it's not for me. Pro tools have some unique plug-ins that i simply love and can't live without :P

BriceH: I can't really say i know what you are talking about, is there somewhere i can read an guide or something to get some kind of understanding for what that is?

Thank you all for your replies and inputs!
