IDE ATA controller driver

I formatted the hard drive on an HP laptop, and installed Windows from a Microsoft installation disk rather than the factory recovery. On the old installation in Device Manager, under IDE ATA controller it said ATA channel 0 & 1. On the new installation it says IDE channel/IDE channel. I am wondering if there is any loss of speed or functionality because of this.

The HP site does not have a driver for either the chipset or ATA controller. And Windows Update has not presented any driver updates for this either.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Might enable AHCI controller after install?
