Actually, your system specs should be in your system specs on your sevenforums profile.

Please update so I won't "scold" you - I was about to admonish you, but decided to back up the thread and saw that you answered my first request, not by updating your profile, by pointing me to post #1. People just aren't going to read every post just to find your system information.

And the two softpaqs from HP are different:
sp59882 is what I asked about
sp56953 is what you told me you were trying.

I don't know which model HP laptop you have - please update your system specs.
Is this the version you installed?

my system specs should be at the very beginning of my this thread.
and i think that is what i am installing.
and this is the release details of the driver that i am installing. this is according to the HP website.

my system specs should be in my profile already. unless people aren't seeing it?

When i search for drivers that are compatible with my laptop on the HP website only the one that i previously mention is the only one that HP is suggesting to me.

Thanks, your system specs are showing.

Try uninstalling teh IDT codec - what happens to the sound?
Check DevMgr / sounds to make sure you're only running base Windows drivers - post a screenshot

Please post a link to one or two of the suspect youtube videos

IDT CODEC is currently uninstalled to make the sounds work. if it is installed, there are no sounds coming out. everything looks fine and everything there's just no sounds coming out

You could back out all sound drivers (yes to uninstall software if prompted) and let Windows figure out what driver to use. You'll have to build it back up with the Intel and IDT drivers.

I wouldn't worry about losing sound completely, Windows ships with basic drivers.

i tried installing this and nothing seems to have happened. is this just the basic audio driver?

these are the errors the system is detecting. it says the device is disabled but in device manager they are all enabled.

I need to be clearer when I post - I was only asking about the Intel softpaq. Maybe I shouldn't post a link. Since it pertained to your machine, no harm done.

and it just went back to the errors that i previously posted on post #28

EDIT: it did not give me the option which device i wanted to troubleshoot (probably because there are no headphones currently plugged in) Also, on device managers when i try to update the driver for the Audio CODEC it removes it and replaces it with High Definition audio device

IDT HD audio codec issues on HP computer

I have a laptop HP with Intel I5 cpu and Windows7 Professional. My problem is the only audio I have comes out of the ear phone connection. No audio out of the default speakers on the computer even though all is enabled for that to happen. I have uninstalled and installed the latest drivers from HP for this computer for the sound card on this laptop but nothing has worked. The speaker icon on the unit is lighted up and the device mgr says all is working ok. When I do a test sound on the speakers it shows them working but I can only hear sound when I plug in the ear phones. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
