Ask for opinions sure!
Remember opinions are not always based on logic.

IMHO tis far better to do your own research re the "facts /statistics/ evidence tested" & presented
> view any Browser that might appeal
> read the Company blurb about the product
> then make up your own mind about what is considered appropriate.... or otherwise.

If you like IE-9 go with it. It is a very good secure browser. I have always used FF because I like the add-ons and is what I am use to using. Can't go wrong with either one.

I'm a Firefox user by choice, but IE has shaped up very nicely with the current IE9. Properly configured, it's a great browser to use - so just roll with it. :)

One of the few things I dislike about IE is the lack of skins. It's the same old skin. With FF and Chrome, you can change the look when you get bored looking at the same real estate.

There really is no right answer. Try them out for yourself, see what each one offers, and them make your choice. Each one will have its supporters and detractors.

Me, I like Firefox. But I wouldn't presume to tell someone it's better than the rest. It just happens that when I got a computer again, three years ago, after years without one, I found out that the old Netscape Navigator I remembered from the past was outdated...and the family expert recommended Firefox, and I took the recommendation.....I stick with it now because it is familiar.:geek:

Each has its strengths and weaknesses. As my partner JMH said I would base my decisions on my investigations, not others opinions.

I was a died in the wool IE user back in XP, but had some problems so I switched to FF.

My personal opinion the default IE 9 & Firefox are about the same but Firefox has more potential to be improved by customizing it.
If you take advantage of Firefox's many extensions its better.

I recently switched to Firefox because I got sick of IE9 and it's terrible addon support. I think all the issues with IE9 are caused by it not using the webkit engine. Otherwise it's a very good browser. It's fast, the most secure by far and light on resources.
I believe Internet Explorer is for the person who doesn't care about addons.

I could never get into Firefox because of all the quirks it had in usability. I'm also not a big fan of their multiple versions and various updates. To me, that says they spread themselves thin. I have no issues with IE9, and it is already on my system. I also have been tyring out Chrome, and I like that as well. To each his own, but I see Firefox losing a lot of popularity on various forums.

I've been using FF for several years and am now on the "beta channel" for updates/upgrades. There were some problems with FF a year or so ago and it was clunky and a pain to use. The newest version (ver. 9.0) works smoothly and is fast. The only complaint I have is that add-on developers don't always keep up with the new beta releases, which stops some of my add-ons/plugins from working. Doesn't happen with every update and as a whole doesn't make me want to change to something else.

I also keep IE9 on my machine and use it from time to time to make certain it's always up to date. I would agree with the others who said to try them both and make a decision you're comfortable with.

"beta channel"? I am running Moz's Nightly 11.0a1 and there is a work around for all the addons that are not yet certified. It is called compatibility reporter and it allows you (on any version of FF) to run any addon that works for FF (or Palemoon)

I think I will give Palemoon a try....after I do my next Acronis backup, of course. Couldn't hurt to have another browser onboard....I'm not even sure which variant if IE I have on here, to be honest.

Edit: Palemoon is just what I had hoped for.....all my bookmarks/add-ons, etc. transferred over nice as can be from my normal Firefox installation, so it's like using the same browser. It will be useful if my FF crashes, and if I have two browser windows open, FF on the primary monitor, Palemoon on the secondary....easier to keep track of what's what when I am Aero Peeking.:geek:

Have you really missed out on all the flack Firefox has been taking about their quick revisions and concurrent version numbers? Mozilla is still releasing updates for the 3.x versions, while moving all the way up to 8.x. It's been a running joke on most forums and tech news sites, prompting many to switch to Chrome for their alternative browser needs.

The updates aren't inline...meaning there's a current version...and then everything else. They are working on and updating several versions at once. I'm honestly extremely shocked that this comes as a surprise.
