IE11 for Windows 7 Globally Available

One thing I discovered when IE10 first came out was it behaved differently on some combinations of OS, Programs, etc., making it difficult to reproduce many problems that many people with IE10 were plagued with at first. Considering how many possible OS program permutations there can be, I find it amazing that new versions of IE do as well as they do. Still, I will wait a few months before upgrading and let others be the guinea pig.

Maybe it is all of those registry cleaners

That can do it at times! The over use of those programs can prove to be destructive to a working 7 install! I don't even bother looking at those any more since I no longer find any need. If I need something removed I will go into the registry itself to surgically remove with care!

Here I saw IE 10 only on the 8 preview builds and have been maintaining another browser that won't freeze up with 10 or more windows open. 11 solves whatever problem IE was seeing going back to IE 8. I now have a second reliable browser installed and can't complain any!

I still have to fire up my second remote 7 Pro case in order to update that one's version of IE. The last update was actually for another browser's latest version going on. Now that 11 is out however it's time again!

In my case, it wasn't a registry cleaner (the one I do have is extremely mild and runs only when I run it); it was Avast's Web Rep app conflicting with WOT. Since WOT works better and is easier for me to use than Avast's Web Rep, I disabled Web Rep.

I'm looking forward to IE11 but will wait a few months to download and install, like I did with IE10, until the worst of the inevitable bugs have been worked out.

Likewise Lady Fitzgerald. I have learnt over the years to wait a while or risk a full reinstall as some update like this hoses the system. I am a Firefox guy in any case.

That's funny I've never any MS update pooch the works entirely even on XP where a restore point didn't fix something automatically. Now for some 3rd party updates I could provide a few examples of mishap. Still no install or update for anything IE ever caused a major headache besides losing the search text box in IE 9 that is.

So far 11 has been the best ever first install of the latest version's final build without issue. And the preview had no goobers to worry about while waiting. Ahd this I suspect is largely due to MS not wanting to goof up with what is still their main "cash cow" as far as desktop OSs!

I agree, IE11 appears to be faster and less glitch, so far. The only problem, that has been overcome, when in full screen the top command/toolbar is a little irritating to unhide or hide. I right click down on the page and it will appear okay.

That seems to have seen a change in how that disappears when unchecked and reappears unnoticed unlike what you saw with all previous versions going back to IE 6 even. Typically you would have needed to drag the command with home page button and IE links drop-down list onto the same space the Favorites bar uses to see a divider line there as well. Now that looks seemless since now it's no longer a separate bar but an option seen on the Favorites bar instead.

I made the switch to IE11 and it's dang fast! At least at this hour of the day.
I don't see any difference in the layout from IE10 though.

I always make a full backup first. If it hoses my system, then I can restore it in about 15 minutes. And previous installs of IE have, after uninstalling the new version, left the system with sfc integrity issues.

Same here. I haven't had any issues with it yet, knock on wood. I am actually starting to use it more than firefox on my windows desktop.

The first thing most noticed at the top of this thread was not seeing a 32bit when installing the 64bit for the 64bit Windows. In all past versions after IE 6 that is the 64bit would still see the 32bit tag along install at the same time. Now it's one or the other since you now have a 64bit flash player in some form working.

I wish I could see this 30% faster but my install did not work.
"not responding" then it "closes".

Any Help on rolling back to IE10? would be appreciated

If you installed it as an update, like you should have, just go to Programs and Features and uninstall IE11. It will auto roll-back to IE10 (or whatever version you had before).

in programs and features, I had to go "View installed updates", and there it was?
New one me.

uninstall just fine.
