IE11 history, password, reopen last session problems

I have tried upgrading from IE9 to 11 on both my Windows 7 computers. One worked with no problems, but the other gives repeated problems despite trying a number of things. I have uninstalled and reinstalled four or five times but the problems remain.
1. History gets wiped out and remains blank no matter how many sites I visit.
2. I have to re-enter user name/password every time I leave a site and return
3. If I click new tab it is always blank and the option to reopen last session is greyed out

I even tried IE10 but had the same problems.
Help!

Well nothing seems to work so I am back to IE9 and will wait until Windows 10 with Spartan is out in a few months.
