IE9 command line visability control

On my desktop system I'm able to make the command line disappear/appear by pressing the ALT key. On my laptop when I press the ALT key all IE9 does is change the accelerator key display (underline key letter). I would to disable the command line on the laptop to get a little more display area (don’t need to see the command line 99.9% of the time).

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

I'm not sure if this is what your referring to or not,
Click on View/ Toolbars,
If the Menubar has a check mark next to it Uncheck it,
Now the Menubar will disappear from your view,
You can now call it up when you want it by pressing the Alt key like your other computer.

That's the option I was looking for. I must have passed over that several times and didn't see it. Thanks.

FYI,
If you use the Favorites bar you can combine it with the Command bar so it doesn't take anymore vertical screen space,
The best thing about the Command bar it has all of the features of the Menubar plus a few more hidden ones,

You can also use the F11 key and everything goes away/ Full screen mode,
F11 will also escape full screen mode,
