Well to get things back ontrack here there's some other news about IE 9 some may want to look over.Note this was something seen back in 11/2009 and will hopefully make a difference in the next IE.

It's only three weeks into its development, but Internet Explorer 9 has officially been unveiled today at the Professional Developers Conference (PDC). In fact, as I write this now, they're still talking about IE9 and other tech advances over on the Microsoft PDC09 website.

The rest of that plus a video clip is seen at IE9 unveiled. Faster, more standards-compliant -- DirectX accelerated!

I use Both FF and IE8, FF was the first to come out with the tabbed browser (that was a God send) and I like the personas. But I like the Favorite Bar in IE8, thats what I use for all the boards. FF I just use for google these days, and maybe a torrent search here and there.

This is entirely untrue. Opera had tabbed browsing long before fF, and there was another browser that had it before Opera, but I can't think of it's name at the moment.

So Opera had tabs before the first release from FF before it was called FF when it was called FB??

Well if thats the case forgive me.. I haven't used Opera

Actually before those 2, there was a browser called avant, which had tabs as far as i can remember, I used it back in 2004-2006, it used the IE6 engine.

Yes and no. I just don't care for the idea of scrambling facts. To a point, I'm guilty also, because the article below says that there a couple of programs preceeding even NetCaptor, but Opera started with tabs in 2000, with version 4.

I just want to be clear. It really doesn't matter who had it first, it only matters who puts it to the best use, or allows it to use its full potential (this goes for anything really).

Well, I can certainly say Opera has some unique ideas built-in to their tabs. Though personally I cannot stand Opera's UI. Something about it just feels old. I want to like it. Just can't.

The UI is the easier part of the browser to change. There are literally hundred of skins available that can be downloaded and installed in seconds. As to toolbars and placement of the various functions, these can all be tweaked so that the browser has a sleek and trim design.

The only thing that Opera has lagged behind on is speed. It was once known as the Fastest Browser On Earth, and with the latest release it shall become so again.

I like the speed of FF and the addons. I also very much like the the built in spell checker. It works great for forums. I am on a guest machine using IE 8 at the moment and I miss the spell checker. I will definitely try IE 9; but I will probably remain with FF.

I have found that (not spam) Google Chrome and Opera are much faster than FF.
Chrome has the same spell check capability.

Have you tried either recently?

Why, can't you tolerate a normal discussion? I'm not the only one that has brought up browsers other than IE...and with good reason.
