It does get cold in Egypt, don't believe everything you see in the movies. This winter temperatures went down to zero centigrade in some areas of the country. Our summers used to be mild and our winters used to be like spring, but thats in the past.
Now our summers are a lot hotter and winters a lot colder. High humidiy values mess everything up. Humidity makes the summer hotter and stickier and it also maks the winter cold colder, a real two edged sword

@Mohab

It depends on a few things.

1. How big is your ssd? Size counts.
2. What you are attempting to do or want to do?
3. Is their a better way of doing what you are wanting to do without another partition?

Is it wise to split an SSD into two partitions instead of buying two SSDs?

It all depends on the specifics of the situation. What purpose would the second partition or drive serve?
You need a good reason to create a second partition. The problem is that no matter how careful you are in selecting the sizes it often happens that one turns out to be too small while the other has space to space. Even experts get this wrong.

But if the drive was at least 250 Gb (232) it would be safe to make another smaller partition for a dual boot or some data, but I recommend just using another drive/drives.

Not that I made another partition I simply shrunk C after install so windows doesn't write to far outside of it leaving unallocated space out of the rest,
It's a lot easier to increase a partitions size than reducing it later.

I thought of creating two patricians for the same reason I currently have two hard drives: One contains Windows and Program files while the other contains Macrium Reflect's disk images and Aomie disk mages. I guess it all boils down to speed, which is faster a big SSD with two patricians or two separate SSDs. By the way I;m satisfied with my current pair of hard disks but am considering switching to SSDs for speed. I'm trying to squeeze as much speed out of my Core two duo, 3G RAM desktop, while asking myself "is it worth spending money on this desktop which will have to be repaced some time soon.

A last question before I go and buy my first SSD:

Since I have my hard drive imaged, would it be wise to restore the image on the SSD? My question is basically this: is an image made by copying sectors on a hard disk restorable on an SSD?

Yes, people do it all the time.

Personally not how I or a lot of others might do it, but perfectly acceptable.

I believe it`s best to setup the ssd and do a clean install.

Before you restore the image, you have to align the SSD.

WHS:

Are you referring only to the restoration of an image of an HDD to an SSD, and not to the restoration of an image of a properly aligned SSD to another SSD?

Or do you habitually always pre-align an SSD target, simply as a precaution, regardless of the alignment state of the source image?

I will be restoring an aligned SSD image to a new SSD within a few days and am currently running on an HDD in an external dock, to which I restored an aligned image of an SSD yesterday.

Folks I just discovered that restoring an image of my C HD on a new SSD requires a lot of complex steps and some extra software.

What about a clean install of Windows 7? Do I still need to "align the SSD" or do I just pop in the Window CD and install?

ignatz, in this case the OP is going from a HD to a SSD so that`s why WG is saying to align the ssd 1st anyway.

In your case, you can just check the alignment again when you`re done.

Mohab, a clean install is suppose to align the ssd for you, but then you end up with the bloody system reserved partition ( a waste of space in my opinion )

I always use Partition Wizard to setup the ssd, you create the install partition (I use the entire drive), format, align and set the ssd active. Then install windows.

You can also do it using Diskpart with the install disc. I just like to use my Partition Wizard Boot CD because it`s so much easier.

When done it looks like this. (No Page File listed, I don`t use one) Not with 16 GB of memory :)
