Hi everyone ! I ama fraid I tried every possible forum and website I could find and nobody seems to know how to fix this. I have made a recent Windows 7 reinstallation on my PC and ever since then, a few select Warner Bros release BD discs do not play properly. The sound is jsut fine, but the image is scrambled in all shots that have a great aount of animation (lights, explosions, traffic, car chase, etc)

I have a AMD Phenom II 2 550 @ 3,10 Ghz
4.00 GB RAM
Windows 7 x64 (I need RAM for my job)
ASUS BR-04B2T BD Player
2x BenQ G2420HDB displays @ 1920x1080
NVidia Geforce 9600 GT 512 MB GDDR3

I tried updating the BD player firmware, tried playing discs in another software except PowerDVD, tried chaging the SATA connections, tried cleaning the discs, updating graphics drivers, disabled Aero before playback, NOTHING WORKS.

Below I attached an image of the issue and below that a video I made when watching a movie.

List of movies that present these issues: Batman Motion Picture Anthology (1989-1997), Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), Superman Returns (2006).

I recently watched Green Lantern (2011) and apparently the issue does not apply to that movie. Lord Of The Rings trilogy (released by WB via New Line CInema) also works like a charm.

I REPEAT, this issue occurs ONLY ON BLU-RAY discs.

Below is supposed to be the scene in Batman Begins when Bruce faces his fear of bats in the soon to be Batcave, instead it's just...scrambled!

This is a video I made. Notice how the image looks at 00:45 and 01:25. If it would happen rarely I wouldn't make a fuss about it, but in The Dark Knight it even happens during dialog scenes if a shot occurs too quick.

I stress to say this issue did not, in any way, occur when I first bought my Blu-ray ROM.

Hi,
Did you manage to come up with a solution to this problem? I have recently noticed the same problem on certain Warner Bros blu-rays (Batman Begins, Dark Knight & I am Legend). Wierdly V for Vendetta and Sherlock Holmes aren't affected and play fine.

For Batman Begins, I get the exact same problem in the exact same places. Also, the problem appears no matter the player used - it shows in both PowerDVD and Corel's WinDVD Pro (both latest releases).

Thanks

Hi there ! No, I haven't. I tried changing setting, disabling Aero, disabling PureVideo HD, nothing works. Yeah, I tried Green Lantern and it works fine and LOTR, which is released by New Line (which is Warners) also doesn't have too many problems. I agree that it happens on every software. I still haven't come up to a solution for it.

Hi Legolas, I emailed Warner Bros support with the details and a link to this thread (I thought your youtube video and system details might help them), so lets see if they get back to me with an answer. I will let you know what they say.

Alright bro, thank you. I also thought about looking for Warner Bros support, but I couldn't find the support link on BD-Live. Thanks for keeping in touch, hopefully they will have the answer.

your problems are caused by video drivers. Most of the time, getting the latest driver from the chipset manufacturer (not from the computer manufacturer and not from windows update) is the way to go. Occaissionally, the latest drivers isnt always the best drivers. If I had to venture a guess, Windows Update installed video drivers and caused this problem to occur.

Upgrade (or downgrade) your graphics drivers.

Now this here is a problem. Whenever I try to install the Nvidia graphics driver it says GeForce was not detected on the system. I have to wait until Windows installs graphic drivers before I can install the GeForce 9 drivers. That being said, if I uninstall the video drivers that Windows Update installed, I can't run the GeForce drivers...

OK, so I uninstalled all graphics drivers, restarted in Safe Mode and eliminated whatever remained of them using Driver Sweeper and did a reinstall of all graphics drivers using the Win7 x64 drivers from NVidia's website but the issue still occurs.

What now ?

I was already using the latest drivers from nvidia (296.10). But I tried downgrading to the driver below that and still get the issue in the same places. So I have re-installed the latest drivers and will wait to see what Warner Bros have to say.

Is there anything else you can think of that we could try?

Sorry to say, but suggesting driver replacement was my best shot. The players you are using for playback do not use system codecs so I felt the graphics drivers were the only possibility to cause the issue.

Hi Legolas,
All I have had is an email 2 days ago saying it has been passed to the 'appropriate department in Warner Bros.' They said they would get back to me soon. I've tried playing around with my graphics card settings and driver since I last posted but still haven't had any luck. I will let you know when (if :(?) they respond...

I just hope I can get it sorted before the dark knight rises is released! I need to watch batman begins & the dark knigh before I go :p

Hi Legolas,
I havent gotten any further since I contacted LG & Warner bros back when I first replied to this thread. But I thought I would let you know that I seem to have found a possible solution.

Download Arcsoft totalmedia player trial, start it up, then go to AV Center -> Display -> untick 'hardware acceleration'. Worked for me! So it looks like it might be my graphics card.... I'm going to keep it like that for the 15 day free trial whilst i watch all the blu-rays I've not been able to watch then do a clean install of my graphics drivers. Hope that helps!!!
