Hi,

We're having a similar problem - could it be that the standard Windows 7 DVD isn't loading the drivers for your network card?

We tested by running the cmd prompt after cancelling and typing:

netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces and it only displayed the internal loopback address.

We made a boot disk from a functioning computer of the same model. You could alternatively load the drivers from disc if you have them.

I had the same problem and searched for a solution a very long time. Apparently, restoring the image from a network drive does not work. You can access the location, Windows will confirm it, but will be unable to actually restore the image, unless you copy it to a local or USB disk (at root level, as was stated several times), so that the Drive contains the WindowsImageBackup folder. I do not know why this does not work on network shares, but you can connect a USB disk, or use an internal harddisk, and copy the contents of your network folder there.

Maybe it is possible to mount a network drive in the RE, I have not yet tried it.

Just a follow up post. We have completed our restore from an image across the network and it was entirely successful. It is possible.

It was as we suspected (in our case at least) a missing NIC driver. Once we had that it went fine, even restoring from a folder several levels down from an administrative drive share.

Not sure whether relevant but something I noticed when trying to restore WindowsBackupImage from a network drive.

I have several images on the network drive from different Windows 7 machines, which I have given different names to the folders according to type of machine etc.

I have found that the Image restore will not find the image until you (as is said before), put the folder in the root of the share but also it has to be called WindowsImageBackup for the restore process to find it.

***System Image Restore over Network from System Repair Disk SUCESS***

I have a tried a lot initially and found a successful solution for system image recovery over network.
The steps i followed in my case as followed
1. Created the Windows 7 system image to a shared partition ex. \\database and given full permissions to every body.
2. Created the system image into the Root of the shared partition i.e \\database
3. Booted the system from windows 7 system repair disk. Opened command prompt and System Image recovery tool.
4. Command Prompt for knowing the network adapter came up or not using ipconfig command and to set ip address to the ethernet lan card if it is online.
5. System Image recovery opened and selected restore from network. In my case installed the lan driver automatically, if the driver not installed then you have to manually point out the lan card device driver of your system from the internet and manually have to point out the lan drivers.
6. After my lan drivers installed, i have given ip address according to my router settings. my network is 192.168.1.0 so in my case used netsh command from CMD
the syntax is: netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static 192.168.1.220 255.255.255.0 and hit enter. IP address was accepted and pinged.
7. Share location gven
\\Server\Sharename ex: \\SERVER\database
IN CREDENTIALS given
Username: SERVER\administrator
Password: ****

HURREH..... My System Image was successfully displayed there. followed on screen instructions and succeeded ........... Thankx to windows7 forum.

I have the same problem in windows 10 and I can't figure out how to get my network drivers installed to connect to the NAS where the image is solved - can anyone break this down more for me?
