Images rename but incorrect order

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry if this has been asked before but I am new to windows 7 and ripping my hair out.
I have 700 photos in the same folder which I have managed to rename by pressing select all, clicking rename, pressing 1 then enter. It has now renamed them 1(1), 1(2), 1(3), 1(4) etc, which at first I thought was great. I then double clicked on the first photo to make it larger and it open in Microsoft office 2010. I then clicked on the little arrow at the bottom so I could flick through all the images enlarged and the were not showing in the same order. The order they were showing in was 1(1), 1(10), 1(100), 1(101). Could somebody please tell me if there is a way I can rename the all but so when I enlarged them they are also in the correct order. There are 700 photos in this one folder and it will take me forever to do it all individually.

Try renaming them with Introduction - Bulk Rename Utility it is a very good free program, that may solve your problem.

It was a quick fix as I really need to get the pictures on to disk but it worked so that was the main thing.
I selected the 1st 99 images and clicked rename (1001). It then renamed the rest (1002), (1003), (1004) etc. When it got to (1099) I then selected the next 99 images and started with (2001). It then renamed the rest (2002), (2003), (2004) etc. it seemed to work that when I enlarged them they all stayed in that order. I could have probably started with a few more zeros so I didn't have to keep reselecting after every 99 images but I was so over it by then I just needed it fixed. I am still going to download bulk utility as it would probably be a lot easier.

Tell me can you just use bulk rename utility for renaming say images in one folder. You don't have to use it every time you rename something on that computer do you? Thanks.

I prefer to use this to bring back drag and drop,

Yes that's exactly how it works you navigate to the folder you want to rename images, files, etc.

And no you do not use it every time you rename something only what you want to.
