Implications of deleting or changing the name of a user account

I am put in charge of five computers in same workgroup (no domain). Now, different computers have different users. I'd like to standardize the user names and passwords. What I have in mind is having on each computer two administrator accounts and one user account. I have two options: I can delete existing users and create new ones or I can rename the existing users. Which method is better?

All data is stored in D: drive. There is no personal data on C:. Thus, deleting accounts should have minimal effect.

Why would you want to "standardize" user names and passwords? If user Joe has an account on one machine now he has access to 5. Doesn't sound like great security.

I too would question using the same user names and passwords. There are exceptions but this is not a common situation.

The problem with renaming user accounts is that this does not change the name in the users profile. Doing this is very problematic and prone to error. This could make it difficult to associate the account name with the profile.

+1 I've never had a good result doing it. The "short cut" ends up a waste of time. Ultimately you create a new account with the new name anyway. It's just asking for frustration.
